It comes with great sadness, much thought, and a heavy heart that after almost three years, the Squad is going on indefinite hiatus as of January 1, 2016.
Fat Girl Food Squad has been a labour of love, not just for Yuli and Ama, but all the Squads across Canada and the United States. We cannot express the amount of gratitude we want to show our contributors and guest writers, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. Without them and their immense talent, Fat Girl Food Squad would be nothing. Our Squad gave us support, friendship and a shoulder through good times and bad.
To our readers: we’re so incredibly blessed and proud that you have followed us on this journey and helped us build Fat Girl Food Squad to what it is today. From brunches to pop-ups to gallery shows, you shaped and made Fat Girl Food Squad into the community it was. Without you, everything we achieved and this community we developed would not have existed – so we thank you for the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support. We hope your learned just as much from us as we learned from you.
During the week of December 28, we’ll be showing off some of our fondest memories from the last three years and January 1st 2016 will be our last day of publication. The website will remain up because we believe in the work we have done here and know first hand it has helped many. Use it as a resource, use it as a springboard for a project of your own and of course, use it to connect with us still. We’ll be around!
