Proactiv Chia makes for easy breakfast

Chia seeds are one of the hottest superfoods right now and rightfully so.  They are high in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, protein, and vitamins like manganese and magnesium.  Prana’s organic Proactiv Chia has brought these tiny power seeds to the next level by adding probiotics to the table.  As Jamie Lee Curtis has taught us, probiotics aid in digestion and general healthy gut flora.  What’s not to love?  Chia seeds are an easy way to add tons of nutrition to whatever you are eating.  Breakfast is the time of day where I really need that extra nutrition.  I want my breakfasts to take minimal time to make and still taste delicious.

Chia pudding is a great way to eat a quick and nutritious breakfast with little prep time.  Below is an easy recipe for chia pudding that can be modified for anyone’s taste.  Chia seeds when soaked create a gel on the outside of the seed.  This gel will naturally thicken things, hence the chia pudding. You can eat this pudding alone or top it with granola, fruit, yogurt, or anything else that you see fit. I love this recipe because it takes less than 5 minutes and the dishes are very minimal. This recipe makes 2-4 servings which fits perfectly into a large mason jar. If you don’t like banana you can use another soft fruit, or omit the fruit entirely.


Easy Banana Chia Pudding with Proactiv Chia

1 cup of milk (dairy, coconut, almond, etc)

4 tablespoons Prana Proactiv Chia

2 ripe bananas

Pinch of salt

2 teaspoons liquid sweetener, or to taste

1/2 teaspoon or so spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, etc)

Start by mashing your bananas in a medium-sized bowl.  Add in your milk and mix until it is very-well combined.  Mix in your sweetener, pinch of salt, spices, and finally your chia seeds.  Mix everything together and taste for seasoning.  Pour everything into your portable container and shake well.  Sit in the fridge to set your pudding overnight.  If you’re stuck on a flavour combination I went with full-fat coconut milk and cardamom, topped with cinnamon granola.
