Are you somehow sick of udon carbonara or fried chicken? Need some sweet to balance out the savory at Toronto food festivals this summer? Well then The Sweetery Festival is just for you and your sweet tooth. Taking place at Portland and Front this August 15th and 16th, this sugary festival even sweetens the deal by offering free admission for everyone!
The Sweetery Festival will be a good time for kids of ages clearly, as some of the activities that will go down include several pinata busting sessions per day, with proceeds going to the Sick Kids foundation. You can also win amazing prizes by filling up your stamp card by trying all of the Sweetery exclusive desserts, making eating cake into some kind of delicious game, and I am very competitive, so watch out. And of course there are even more chances to win prizes like the timeless Jelly Bean jar guess, and loot bags for all attendees.
For the more “sophisticated” of us there will be a chance to see the works of the George Brown College post grad pastry chefs, which will be part of their final project, so I assume they will be awe-inspiring feats of sweetness. You might even learn something from one of their demonstrations. There will also be loads of vendors from all over Toronto in attendance, some with treats exclusive to the festival. Best of all, the entire festival is not for profit, giving all the funds raised over to kids in need, so you really have no excuse.
Aiming for an attendance of over 30,000 people in its inaugural year, I’m getting pretty excited for this epic display of sugar, over of my favorite things. Don’t miss out, the cake awaits.Tags: fat girl food squad, food babes, foodie, sweetery toronto festival, toronto
